A place to share your response to the Week 5 exercise, and to share your latest work for feedback.
A reminder of the exercise:
Building on the character work from Week 3, write a short scene where that character walks into their bedroom. Firstly, what is that character’s bedroom like? Do they live in a castle, an orphanage, a train station or a refugee camp? What is your character’s motivation for going into their room? Are they going in there to hide, do their homework, write a letter, try on a new outfit? Use evocative description to summon-up a sense of place, communicate the actions and emotions of the character as they look at/pickup/hide the objects in their room. Try to engage your reader with little mysteries in your writing, and a sense that this scene is part of a bigger story.
*For those of you writing picture books, or for those of you who feel you’d rather post another extract from your current WIP, please feel free to upload something else (no more than 500 words) instead.
